My life has been filled with many obstacles, yet after overcoming them, I am still able to maintain a sense of optimism for the future and a smile on my face.
I had a near death experience at childbirth and Sheriff Deputy Mark Richardson saved my life. He also gave me my best friend, my bear, who is seen in the picture. My bear is my symbol of hope and pulls me through the struggles of my life.
Growing up, I was one of two kids in a family of four and we lived near the poverty line. We struggled to get by, and our family had scarcely enough for rent and food. I spent most my childhood at home playing with my bear and toys while using my imagination to keep myself entertained.
I entered college with the goal to obtain a better future for my family and myself. I studied really hard and eventually graduated at the top of my department with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
Unfortunately, about six months before my graduation, my mom passed away from sudden health complications. The pain from her loss motivated me to make a lifestyle change. I started to work out and eat healthier. Over the next few years I lost about 8 inches off my waist and kept it off since.
After facing a near death experience at birth, growing up in poverty, losing my mother, and fighting obesity, I was finally free to pursue my passions. During my leisure time I taught myself cooking, photography, electronics design, and programming. I designed, built, integrated, and tested a second-generation autonomous rover. The hardware is complete, and software development will start soon. I also taught myself various web technologies so that I could create this website you see today.

My goal is to become a hardware and software engineer who is an expert in technologies across multiple disciplines. I want to use my creativity, innovation, and ingenuity to create new products.
I am passionate about learning new things, being creative, and producing something original through the composition of knowledge I’ve obtained throughout my own life.
I believe in having a beginner's mind and challenging the status quo in order to innovate and think outside the box.
One day, I’d like to create, design, or invent something that makes people smile, improve their lives, or give them the opportunity to work hard and pursue their dreams too.

Originally, a Mechanical Engineering major, after studying electronics in a physics course, enjoying it, and doing very well in the class, I switched majors to Electrical Engineering. I ended up graduating as the valedictorian of the Electrical Engineering Department in 2008 and second overall in the College of Engineering.
I enjoy creating things, especially from scratch. I taught myself to cook and bake and created dishes such as chicken marsala and fettuccine alfredo to desserts like red velvet cake and crème brulée. I also taught myself weightlifting and dieting, photography, building a rover, and making this website.
